Pregnenolone is made directly from cholesterol and sits at the very top of the steroid hormone tree. Your body converts it into progesterone, DHEA, cortisol, testosterone, and estrogen. It also acts directly as a neurosteroid, enhancing memory and cognitive function. Levels decline with age.
